有五星級豪華建設的大甲區公所行政中心，常期停車位不足而有著亂停亂放之苦，由於大甲戶政事務所再遷入六樓，停車問題雪上加霜，公所為了化解民怨，方便民眾停車，五日研擬改善方案，將重新劃設汽機車停車格方位，改善停車空間。
十餘年前大甲區公所耗資一億多萬元，建一棟六樓豪華行政中心，空間舒適寬敞，是海線新穎的行政大樓之一。但地下室停車場空間窄狹，光是員工停車就不足，廣場十多個停車位常常爆滿，洽公民眾、員工、周邊住戶爭搶停車位，每天洽公民眾難找到車位車而怨四起，尤其民眾找空隙或紅線亂停，公所經常廣播請駕駛人移車，停車亂象長期難解。
尤其自大甲戶政遷入六樓辦公以來，停車問題更是雪上加霜，糾紛頻傳。大甲區公所員工指出，有少數住戶將車輛停在廣場，亦有附近餐廳顧客停放，午晚間爆滿之外，假日車位也是常爆滿，曾有辦活動時找不到車主移車的窘境，警方曾為維持秩序而開罰單，卻引發更多民怨。
昨日大甲區公所員工在停車場丈量停車空間，區長蔡信豐說，西側將全部規劃為機車停車格，汽車車格從目前南北向改為東西向，將可增加多一點車位，也請民眾遵守規定。
