Notebook battery pack maker Simplo Technology has established a business unit specifically for marketing in-house developed and produced automation solutions.
At least seven local governments in China have hiked minimum wages in 2014, with the highest minimum monthly wage of CYN1,820 (US$293) and hourly wage of CNY17 for Shanghai City, Simplo indicated. In view of continually rising wages in China, Simplo said it has made efforts to develop automation solutions for in-house production, with most of the automation equipment produced by itself.
Through automated production lines, Simplo reduced workforce in China by 40% in 2013 and expects a further decrease by 30% in 2014, the company said.
Simplo's automation solution business unit has obtained orders worth NT$500-700 million (US$16.6-23.3 million) a year, with most of the clients engaged in assembly of electronics, the company indicated. Simplo aims to increase annual revenues from automation solutions to NT$1 billion in a year, the company said.
Metal-alloy chassis maker Catcher Technology said it is also considering establishing automation business unit.
