位於印度比哈省一所小學，16日學童因進食有毒的扁豆蔬菜粥，造成22名學童中毒死亡、47名學童住院治療，近百名家長及村民為此上街發動暴力抗議。
綜合各媒體報導，比哈省教育局長沙熙說明營養午餐似乎有毒，根據調查結果顯示，營養午餐裡的白葉菜可能受到殺蟲劑裡的微量磷酸鹽汙染，當地民眾則指出，學校使用受汙染聞起來有臭味的芥子油烹調。
印度當局提供120萬所公立小學免費午餐，估計近1.2億名學童因此受惠，以此計畫對抗飢餓與促進孩童的升學率。
達蘭薩蒂(Dharamsati)公立小學22名因食物中毒死亡的學童，17日早上在學校附近的馬斯拉村下葬，政府將提供每名過世的學童11萬台幣左右的慰問金。
政府官員墨爾表示，自17日晚間以來，近百名憤怒民眾集聚薩蘭，發動抗議，要求對負責的官員祭出嚴厲行動。當局指出，憤怒的民眾放火焚燒4輛警車，擊破警車及多輛汽車車窗的玻璃，並推翻了1座警察崗哨。
